Hacienda Guachala invites you to experience over four hundred years of Ecuadorian history.
The temple was constructed in 1580, making Guachala the oldest hacienda in Ecuador. Before the Spanish came, the Caranqui and Cayambe Indians inhabited the area, and the Incas built a fortress where the hacienda stands today. In more recent history, the hacienda has been the residence of numerous political figures including two Ecuadorian presidents.
Quitoloma ruins , a preserved high altitude Inca fortress on the Equator is but a half hour away.
Oyacachi hot springs , a traditional gathering spot for centuries has a recently constructed road to them making them easily accessible. The Lakes of Mojanda , popular high paramo lakes surrounded by peaks that are easily ascended are a short ride away.
