Galapagos Trekking Tour - 7 Days - Trekking in the Galapagos Islands
Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Quito
Arrive in Quito. Assistance and transfer from the airport to the hotel Mercure Alameda. The four stars Hotel Patio Andaluz is a national treasure that holds history within its walls. Situated in the heart of the historic Old City of Quito, which was declared the first cultural heritage of the world by UNESCO in 1978, the hotel is surrounded by churches, museums, and national monuments. It is a marvellous colonial building dating back to the foundation of Quito, and has been beautifully and meticulously restored. Enjoy the enchantment of this elegant, 31-room boutique hotel, with wide corridors, expansive stairways, large arches, balconies, and towering atrium-style patios, which lend to the feeling of a long-ago Quito. Welcome cocktail, briefing and accommodations at the hotel. -/-/-

Day 02: Quito - San Cristobal Island
In the morning you will fly to the Galapagos island San Cristobal. From the airport the transfer brings you to the Teclas Surf Resort, located directly at the romantic port basin of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. In the afternoon you hike through a typical dry forest to the frigate bird hill where you can observe frigate birds, pelicans and can also snorkel. On the way you will already make acquaintance with the famous Darwin finches and lava lizards sitting along the way. Overnight in the Teclas Surf Resort. B/-/D

Day 03: Snorkelling in the Pacific Ocean and highland hike
In the morning you do a boat trip to the famous rock of „ Leon Dormido“ which is located offshore of San Cristobal. Here you can observe frigate birds, blue-footed boobies and noddis as well as the sea life while snorkelling around. Following after a short walk over the small island „Isla Lobos“ you can swim with the local sea lions. In the afternoon you will drive in the highlands to get to know the tortoise station „La Galapaguera“ likewise the fresh water lake „Es Junco“. There you get familiar with the local flora and fauna. The night will be spent again in the Teclas Surf Resort. B/L/D

Day 04: Santa Cruz Island
Early morning embarkation in your fast motorboat. On Your way to Santa Cruz you stop by the Santa Fe (Barrington) Island. This island, according to the latest geological studies, shows the islands’ oldest rocks. The small bay on Santa Fe's northern coast provides one of the most picturesque anchorages within the archipelago. Here you have the opportunity to explore the diverse underwater world in company of the many sea lions. Back to the ship you continue your journey to Santa Cruz Island, where you will stay in the Red Mangrove Inn. In the afternoon you hike through wide dry forest with its many Cacti to the Beach Tortuga (Turtle) where you can observe the many seabirds. B/L/D

Day 05: Santa Cruz/Station Charles Darwin - Highlands
Santa Cruz is the second largest island in the Galapagos. The small town of Puerto Ayora is the economic centre of the archipelago, with the largest population of the 4 inhabited islands (approx 10.000). Santa Cruz is also the only island where six different zones of vegetation can be seen: Coastal, Arid, Transition, Scalesia, Miconia, and Pampa Zones. The Charles Darwin Research Station and the Galapagos National Park offices are based here. The station is also a tortoise breeding and rearing centre, where tortoises of different subspecies are prepared for reintroduction to their natural habitats. The most popular inhabitant of this island will probably be Lonesome George. He is the only survivor of the specific turtle species. The lush greenery of the Santa Cruz highlands is a welcome contrast with the arid scenery of the smaller, lower islands. Points of interest are the famed lava tunnels, a fun and geologically informative visit. The trip to the highlands ends with a visit to the Twin Craters. The vegetation around these is very special and is renown for its about 300 fern species and the many Scalesia trees. Overnight in the Red Mangrove Inn. B/L/D

Day 06: Galapagos - Back to the Andes
In the morning you cross the highlands of Santa Cruz and the canal of Itabaca to reach the airport of Baltra where you take your flight back to Quito. After the transfer to the hotel Patio Andaluz the afternoon in Quito will be on your own disposal. B/-/-

Day 07: Return home
In the morning we will accompany you to Quito International Airport and say goodbye - until the next time! B/-/-
