Avenue of the Volcanoes: Quito - Latacunga - Ambato - Baños - Riobamba - Quito

Take a scenery-packed drive south through the Avenue of the Volcanoes to Ambato, followed by a stop at the village-weaving centre of the Salasaca Indians, famous for their colourful wall hangings. From Salasaca on a clear day we can see the Tungurahua volcano. Then onto Baños, located on the upper rim of the Amazon Basin where the surrounding lush green mountains offer views of waterfalls cascading down thousands of feet and delicate orchids abound in the hills. Spend the night in Baños, a peaceful small town famous among Ecuadorian and foreign tourists alike for its hospitality. Dinner and Overnight in Hosteria Luna Runtun.

In the morning you can do the following activities: cycling, horseback riding, hiking and more. On the way back to Quito we drive through Riobamba - Ambato for sightseeing of the Chimborazo. Subsequently we stop at one of the local Indian markets. Lunch at a typical local restaurant.
