You should stop in Salinas before continuing to Guayaquil.

Valdivia is an important archiological site to visit as well.

Quito

In Guayaquil you must go to Malecon 2000, las Peñas & Cementerio General

On the way to Quito sit on the left side of the vehicle.

In Salinas do not miss La Queseria, the best cheese in Ecuador, an industry run by the community.

In Salinas you won't find many hotels or restaurants. About 5 years back to Quito

DAY 4: Guayaquil Cuenca You should stop in Salinas before continuing to Guayaquil. Trip will last 5 hours. Once in Cuenca just relax and enjoy this quiet and beautiful city.
DAY 5: Cuenca Ingapirca Walk through Cuenca's old colonial centre. You can stay longer and visit "El Cajas"National Park, famous for its lakes and lagoons.
DAY 6: Ingapirca Alausi Ingapirca is an ancient well-perserved Inca ruin, the best in Ecuador. Book the train trip to La Nariz del Diablo as soon as you arrive in Alausi.

DAY 7:

Alausi

Quito

Take train from Alausi and back sitting on the roof to enjoy the gorgeous scenery.From Alausi take the first bus to Riobamba, a 2 hour trip. 4 more to Quito.

Don't forget your waterproof suit and to protect your camara.
